ICC T-20 World Cup 2026- India reached the final after defeating England, let’s take a look at the match
Friends, on 5 April 2026, India and England faced each other in the second semi-final of the ICC T-20 World Cup 2026 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, in which India defeated England by 7 runs and secured a place in the final. The match was a high-scoring thriller, in which India set a record target of 254 runs, which England could not chase. Now India will face New Zealand, who had earlier defeated South Africa in the semi-final, let’s take a look at the match-
1. India made record knockout total
After winning the toss, England captain Harry Brook decided to field first. India responded brilliantly, scoring 253 runs in 20 overs—the highest total in a T20 World Cup knockout match.
Sanju Samson played a brilliant inning of 89 runs in 42 balls, in which he scored 211 runs and hit seven sixes.
Shivam Dubey scored 43 runs off 25 balls, while Hardik Pandya and Tilak Verma scored 27 runs off 12 balls and 21 runs off 7 balls respectively.
2. Despite Bethel’s brilliant innings, England lagged behind
For England, there was a brilliant effort from Jacob Bethell, who scored his first T20 International century by scoring 105 runs in 48 balls, which included 7 sixes. However, his brilliant innings went in vain as England could only manage 246/7 in 20 overs, falling behind by 7 runs.
3. Hardik Pandya led India’s bowling
India’s bowling attack was effective in saving the record total.
Hardik Pandya was the best bowler, taking 2 wickets for 38 runs in his 4 overs.
The remaining four Indian bowlers shared 3 wickets each, which ensured that England could not cross the victory line.
What does this mean for India
This win marks India’s fourth consecutive T20 World Cup final appearance and second consecutive final. The team will now face New Zealand in the last match, aiming to add another T20 World Cup title to its legacy.
