ICC T20 World Cup: Colorful closing ceremony to be held before India-New Zealand final, Ricky Martin will perform

The ICC T20 World Cup 2026 has now reached its final stage, where the title clash will take place between co-hosts India and New Zealand at the grand Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday (8 March). While defending champions India, who reached the final for the fourth time with a thrilling win over England amid rain of runs at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium on Thursday night, are eyeing defending the title, New Zealand, who won one-sidedly over South Africa in Kolkata on Wednesday, will try to become champion for the first time in the 10 editions of the competition.

Meanwhile, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has planned a colorful closing ceremony before the final match, in which international pop superstar Ricky Martin will also perform. ICC has confirmed this.

Ricky Martin to deliver a specially curated live performance

Ricky Martin is going to give a specially prepared live performance at the event starting at 5.30 pm Indian time. Fans are thrilled to hear the news of the performance of this singer, who is popular worldwide for his powerful voice, tremendous stage presence and Latin pop songs. ICC wrote on its official X platform, ‘The T20 World Cup party has now become bigger. We are delighted to announce that global icon and superstar Ricky Martin will be the highlight of the closing ceremony ahead of the final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. You won’t want to miss this event.

ICC has said that the stadium gates will open at 3.30 pm on the day of the final. Ricky Martin’s show will begin at 5:30 p.m. After this program the final match will be played between India and New Zealand.

If seen, the Indian team has reached the finals for the fourth time in total and for the second consecutive time. Team India won the first T20 World Cup played in South Africa in 2007 by defeating arch-rival Pakistan. After this, in the last edition played jointly hosted by America and West Indies in 2024, the team led by Rohit Sharma became the champion by defeating South Africa.

If Surya and company are successful in defending the title by defeating New Zealand, then they can become the first team to win the T20 World Cup twice in a row.
