In response, Sanju stood firm from the beginning to the end of the innings and while becoming India’s highest scorer while chasing the target in the T20 World Cup, with sporadic support from his fellow batsmen, he took Team India to 199 runs for five wickets in 19.2 overs. Samson and captain Surya added 58 runs for the third wicket.
Faced with a big target, 31-year-old Thiruvananthapuram batsman Sanju set the sights right from the start. But on the front end, Abhishek Sharma (10 runs, 11 balls, two fours), Ishan Kishan (10 runs, six balls, two fours) after showing their initial hand, fell victim to Akil Hussain (1-22) and Jason Holder (2-41) respectively. Captain Suryakumar Yadav (18 runs, 16 balls, one six, one four) understanding the urgency of the occasion, thought it better to support ‘Player of the Match’ Samson and a partnership of 58 runs was reached between the two in 35 balls.

Sanju along with Shivam gave the final touch to the victory.
At one time it seemed that only Sanju and Pandya will sail the team, then Joseph disappointed even Hardik with the total of 179. At that time India needed 17 runs from 10 balls. At present, Shivam Dubey (eight runs not out, four balls, two fours) hit two fours as soon as he landed and Sanju gave the final touch to the Indian victory in the last over.

Chase and Hope made a partnership of 68 runs for the first wicket.
Before this, the Indian team came under initial pressure, when Caribbean opener Roston Chase (40 runs, 25 balls, one six, five fours) and captain Shai Hope (32 runs, 33 balls, one six, three fours) made a partnership of 68 runs in 53 balls. However, during this time Chase also got two lives. Ultimately, Varun Chakraborty (1-40) gave India its first success by bowling out Hope in the ninth over.

Holder and Powell scored 76 runs in the last 35 balls.
When West Indies crossed the 100-run mark in 11 overs, Jasprit Bumrah (2-36) made two big successes in the 12th over and after the chase, he dismissed Shimron Hetmyer (27 runs from 12 balls, two sixes, one four). Sherfane Rutherford (14 runs, nine balls, one six) also soon became the victim of Hardik Pandya (1-40). However, after this, Powell and Holder started batting aggressively and took the team to 195 runs with an unbroken partnership of 76 runs in just 35 balls for the fifth wicket.
This pair produced the goods in the 1st innings.

Overall, Bumrah bowled well in the middle overs. But India saved them for the death overs, which was of no use. In this sequence, Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh (0-43) proved to be the most expensive, against whom 24 runs were given in the 16th over. For now, all’s well that ends well and Samson did not disappoint the hosts with his responsible innings.
