ICC T20 World Cup: Team India hit a four to win, Shivam and Varun put an end to the struggle of Netherlands.

After all-rounder Shivam Dubey’s stormy half-century (66 runs, 31 balls, six sixes, four fours) and the magic of spin by Varun Chakravarthy (3-14), Team India concluded the preliminary league stage with its fourth consecutive win by defeating Netherlands by 17 runs in the ICC T20 World Cup Group A match here on Wednesday.

Coming to bat first at the Narendra Modi Stadium, India scored a strong score of 193 runs for six wickets in 20 overs with ‘Player of the Match’ Shivam’s attractive fifty and two valuable partnerships with his captain Suryakumar Yadav (34 runs, 28 balls, one six, two fours) and Hardik Pandya (30 runs, 21 balls, three sixes). In reply, Varun and Shivam Dubey (2-35) put an end to the struggle of Netherlands, which had reached 176 runs for seven wickets.

India’s winning streak in T20 World Cup reaches 12 matches

In fact, this is India’s 12th consecutive win in the T20 World Cup. In the previous edition of the competition, Rohit Sharma-led Team India won the title by remaining unbeaten in all eight matches. Talking about the current edition, India remained unbeaten in four matches and topped the group with eight points.

If we look at the innings of Netherlands, which came to chase the difficult target, then Bas de Leede scored the maximum 33 runs (23 balls, one six, three fours). Later, Noah Cross (25 not out, 12 balls, five fours) and Jack Leon Cashe (26 runs, 16 balls, one six, one four) made a quick partnership of 47 runs on 23 balls for the seventh wicket, taking the team closer to the target, but they could not help the team win.

Dubey made useful partnerships with Pandya and Surya

Before this, Dubey played the best innings of his career and made a partnership of 76 runs in 35 balls with Hardik Pandya for the fifth wicket. Earlier, Dubey along with Surya had also added 41 useful runs on the fourth wicket and took the score to 110 runs.

Due to the efforts of Dubey and Pandya, India was successful in adding 75 runs in the last five overs. For Netherlands, fast bowler Logan Van Beek was the most successful bowler, taking three wickets for 56 runs. Off-spinner Aryan Dutt took two wickets for 19 runs.

Abhishek Sharma scored a hat-trick of zero

Earlier during the Indian innings, the wait for Abhishek Sharma to open his account in the ongoing World Cup continued and he returned to the pavilion on zero for the third consecutive match. He was bowled by completely missing Aryan’s straight ball.
