Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 Schedule: The International Cricket Council has announced the complete schedule of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. This tournament will be played in England and Wales from 12 June to 5 July 2026 and is being considered an important milestone in the history of women’s cricket. This time a total of 12 teams will participate, which will be one of the most competitive editions till date. The biggest feature of the tournament is that India and Pakistan will face each other in the group stage itself, due to which the excitement is expected to be at its peak from the very beginning. 12 teams are taking part
After the qualifiers held in Nepal last month, the picture of 12 teams became clear. Apart from hosts England, Bangladesh, Ireland, Netherlands and Scotland made it to the main tournament through qualification. This time the participation of European countries is in special discussion. For the first time, one-third of the teams in the tournament are from Europe, with the presence of four European nations namely England, Ireland, Scotland and the Netherlands, indicating the global expansion of women’s cricket.
India-Pakistan in same group
The group stage is considered to be very balanced and competitive. Group 1 includes Australia, South Africa, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Netherlands. This group is being called ‘Group of Death’ because many veteran teams are present in it. Apart from Pakistan, India will also face tough challenges from strong teams like Australia and South Africa. West Indies, England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Ireland and Scotland have been kept in Group 2. This group is also considered no less competitive.
The first match will be held between these two teams
The opening match of the tournament will be played between England and Sri Lanka at Edgbaston on 12 June. This campaign will be very important for host England. On June 20, England will face Scotland at Headingley, which will be the first meeting of the two teams in the World Cup on English soil. On June 24, England and West Indies will face each other at Lord’s, while on June 27, England will face New Zealand at The Oval. These matches will give an idea of the strength and preparation of the host team.
This team will take part in the tournament for the first time
The debut of Netherlands in this edition is also historic. This team, adorned with young players, is participating in the Women’s T20 World Cup for the first time and will get a chance to prove itself against big teams like India and Australia.
