When De Villiers joined the ICC Hall of Fame, Virat said this heart touching thing while congratulating him.

The ICC on Wednesday, October 16 inducted AB de Villiers, Neetu David and Alastair Cook into the ICC Hall of Fame. As soon as AB de Villiers was inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame, his former Royal Challengers Bangalore teammate Virat Kohli wrote an emotional letter congratulating him.

Kohli wrote in his letter, “For AB, it is an honor to be chosen to write these words as he enters the ICC Hall of Fame. You fully deserve your place – after all, the Hall of Fame is the game. But your impact has been really unique, and rightly so, you are the most talented cricketer I have played with, absolutely number one. “

He further said, “But what stood out to me most was your belief in that ability. You had immense confidence that you could do whatever you wanted on the cricket field, and you did it normally. That's why you became so special, there is no better example in my mind than when we were batting together for RCB in 2016. We had bowlers like Sunil Narine, Morne Morkel, Andre Russell and Shakib Al Hasan. Chasing 184 runs against India, you came to bat with me when there were 70 runs on the board and Narayan was bowling.”

Kohli said, “You played some shots but missed some and told me during the timeout that you were not picking him very well. I thought I was doing that, so I remember I told you. Give me a strike and I will try to hit a boundary on that. In the first over bowled by Narayan, I was ready at the non-striker's end thinking that you are definitely giving me a single.”

The Indian run machine further added, “So, imagine my surprise when you step back towards the leg side, Sunil comes behind you and you slog sweep him and hit him for a 94-metre six over square leg. I don't know what happened in the timeout to make you believe you could do that. I just remember telling you, you're a freak!”

Talking about De Villiers' international career, he has scored 8765 runs in 114 Test matches, 9577 runs in 228 ODIs and 1672 runs in 78 T20 Internationals. He has 5162 runs in his name in 184 matches in IPL.
