ICC’s deal with PCB to end India boycott to be made public post-T20 World Cup 2026

A PCB source told PTI that the ICC has guaranteed certain concessions to the board, which paved the way for lifting the boycott of the India match. Full details are expected to be revealed after the conclusion of the T20 World Cup 2026.

“All the concessions given to the PCB by the ICC for ending their boycott will be disclosed only after the T20 World Cup concludes,” a PCB source told PTI on Tuesday.

The ICC has confirmed that the Bangladesh Cricket Board won’t face any sanctions and will be assigned an ICC event in the 2028-2031 cycle, with the U19 Men’s World Cup being the preferred option

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had confirmed that the national team will boycott the T20 World Cup group match against India in Colombo on February 15, showing solidarity with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), who were replaced after refusing to play in India due to security concerns. However, Pakistan changed its stance after between the ICC and the PCB head Mohsin Naqvi.

While the ICC confirmed on Monday that Bangladesh would not face any penalties for their position, it remained silent on the potential benefits given to the PCB.

“President Anura Kumara Dissinayake’s call played a significant role in ending the boycott, and also the briefing from key figures in the government and establishment who have been closely monitoring the situation,” another source informed.

Sources have suggested that Naqvi is working towards increasing the PCB’s share in ICC revenue, but it will only be feasible in the new financial cycle.

“The ICC has reached an agreement with Naqvi that no additional details regarding the discussions with the PCB, Bangladesh Cricket Board, and other boards will be made public,” a source said.

Naqvi pointed out that there was no valid reason for Pakistan and India not to play home and away matches in the ICC World Test Championship at neutral venues. The same pattern is being followed in other ICC white-ball tournaments.

However, the key difference is that the WTC final is the only official ICC event, while all other series are bilateral.
