‘If Akbar and Jahangir’s wives were Hindus, then how could the atrocities have happened?’ Congress came to the defense of Mughals, BJP got angry
‘Mughals’ have entered the politics of Chhattisgarh. After former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, now former Deputy CM TS Singhdev and senior leader Rashid Alvi have given a statement which is sure to create a political uproar. These leaders say that Hindus were not in any danger during the Mughal period. Singhdev even said that there is no evidence of oppression of Hindus in history.
Singhdev said- I am from the royal family, there is no evidence of oppression
During a program in Bhilai, former Deputy CM of Chhattisgarh TS Singhdev said that Hindus were completely safe during the Mughal period. Citing history, he said that there is no evidence of suppressing or torturing Hindus during that period. Referring to his royal background, Singhdev said, “We ourselves come from a royal family. We do not find anywhere in history that anyone was oppressed on the basis of religion during that period.”
Rashid Alvi’s argument- Mughals’ wives were Hindus
Congress leader Rashid Alvi has also jumped into this debate. Echoing Singhdev and Baghel, he described the Mughal emperors as secular. Alvi gave a strange argument by saying that Akbar’s Begum was a Hindu. Jahangir was also married to the Thakur community and Shahjahan’s wife was also a Hindu. Alvi raised the question, “How can the kings whose wives are Hindus oppress the people of Hindu society?”
Bhupesh Baghel had started the discussion
This entire controversy started with a statement by former CM Bhupesh Baghel. Baghel had said that even when the freedom struggle was being fought in the country, Hindus were not in danger. Even when the country became independent, there was no danger. He had said that Mughals and Sultans ruled, Muslims remained in power, but even at that time Hindus were safe and there was no threat to them.
BJP’s counterattack- Congress has always been anti-Sanata.
Bharatiya Janata Party has reacted sharply to these statements of Congress leaders. Rajnandgaon MP Santosh Pandey has slammed Bhupesh Baghel and TS Singhdev and termed them as ‘anti-Sanatan’. Pandey said that the history of Congress has always been of opposition to Sanatan Dharma. He sarcastically said that the people of Chhattisgarh are well aware of Singhdev’s views.
