‘If I come again, I will put 50 grams of drugs in the bag’ Policeman who openly threatened students suspended

Mumbai Police’s attitude towards the ongoing student protests led by CJP on the streets of Mumbai has now come under the scanner for a very big and serious controversy. Recently, a video has been shared by Mumbai Congress on social media platform ‘X’, which has created a stir after it went viral. In this viral video, a uniformed policeman is clearly seen openly threatening the protesting students to implicate them in false drug cases and ruin their lives.

For the last few days, a large number of students and common citizens have been continuously protesting for their demands in major areas of Mumbai like Shivaji Park, Chembur and Azad Maidan.

Serious questions raised on viral video

In this viral video that has surfaced, a group of youth are seen sitting inside the police van, who were detained from the protest site. A uniformed policeman sitting in the front seat is heard giving strict instructions to these youth to go back home and never return to such protests again.

In the video, the policeman says in a very aggressive tone that if you guys are ever seen here again, I will ruin your entire life. After this he openly threatens and says that I will put 50-50 grams of drugs (powder) in your bag and your entire life will be over forever. In the video, the policeman is also seen saying that because of these protesters, his job and life have become very difficult.

Congress party cornered the government by sharing the video

Mumbai Congress has raised questions in strong words by posting this sensational video on its social media handle. The party wrote that if this video is true, then it is not only a shameful attempt to intimidate students and youth, but also a direct attack on the democratic rights of the citizens of the country.

Congress says that raising your voice and protesting is not a crime. The government and administration should answer the questions raised by the students with full responsibility and accountability and not suppress their voices through such cheap and criminal threats.

The accused policeman was punished and immediately suspended.

After this entire matter gained prominence and the video went viral on social media, top officials of Mumbai Police immediately took serious cognizance of this incident and ordered an investigation without any delay.

At present, pending the full results of the investigation, the careless policeman seen wearing uniform in the video has been removed from his current posting. Senior officials of the police department say that this matter is being investigated impartially and based on the findings of the investigation report, strictest departmental action will be taken against that policeman.

Police facing other serious allegations of digital tracking and intimidation

The methods being adopted by the Mumbai Police to crush and stop this student protest are also being strongly criticized from all sides. The direct allegation of the people protesting on the streets is that the police is now resorting to modern digital tracking and is creating mental pressure on them by reaching their homes.

The protesters, whose names are included in the FIR already registered or who were sent legal notices by the administration, have come before the media and revealed that they are receiving direct phone calls from local police stations and threatening messages on WhatsApp. In some verified screenshots, it has been claimed that senior police officers have given strange instructions to people to stay inside their homes and constantly share their WhatsApp live location.

Apart from this, digital legal notices under Section 35(3) of BNSS are also being sent through messaging apps early in the morning, ordering people to appear at police stations for direct questioning in connection with earlier meetings and demonstrations.
