‘If I wear a veil, my husband will roam around in Sherwani’, the matter reached the court after 2 days of marriage

The debate regarding veil continues even today in our society. Meanwhile, a case has come to light from Ghaziabad which has once again given a new twist to this debate. The controversy that started over the veil has now moved from the family counseling center to the court. The matter has escalated so much that within a few days of marriage, talk of divorce has started. The woman filed a complaint against her in-laws just two days after the marriage. The woman says that her in-laws are pressurizing her to wear the veil.

 

It is being told that a girl from Bhojpur area was married to a young man from Alwar, Rajasthan about a year ago. When the girl reached her in-laws’ house after marriage, she was expected to wear a veil. The married woman alleges that her in-laws were constantly pressurizing her to wear the veil. The dispute between husband-wife and in-laws increased regarding this matter.

The woman said that if she is expected to wear a veil, then the husband should also roam around wearing a sherwani. After this condition of the wife, the matter got worse. An attempt was made to negotiate between the two sides, but things could not work out. Veil is still a big issue in a state like Rajasthan and after this condition of women, it is being discussed in the entire state.

Controversy started two days after marriage

According to the information, the woman had filed a complaint against her in-laws just a few days after the marriage. The woman alleged that after her marriage, she was being pressurized to follow traditional customs. She says that wearing the veil is a matter related to her personal freedom and it cannot be imposed forcibly.

 

The matter reached the Family Counseling Center of Ghaziabad. Here the counselors tried to convince both the parties. Even after several rounds of counselling, the husband and wife remained adamant on their stand. The wife was saying that the pressure to wear veil was wrong, while the in-laws were citing tradition.

The matter reached the court

An attempt was made to reach a compromise between the two parties at the Family Counseling Centre, but no solution was found. After this the file was closed from the counseling center and the matter reached the court. It is being told that both the parties have now filed divorce petition.

 

Counselors say that these days disputes between married couples regarding ideological differences, lifestyle and modern lifestyle are increasing rapidly. In many cases, disputes start over issues like clothing, social media, job, living with family and personal freedom.

Many cases came to light

In other similar cases also, disputes have come to light between husband and wife regarding clothes and lifestyle. In one case, the woman had complained that she was being prevented from wearing western clothes after marriage and was constantly being pressurized to wear a saree. In another case, the husband accused his wife of making reels and being busy on mobile all day long.
