“If India beat us in Border-Gavaskar Trophy, I would say Cameron Green’s absence cost Australia the series”: Pat Cummins is ready with an excuse

Australia captain Pat Cummins has a great sense of humor. His one-liners have stunned fans and former cricketers. In his conversation with Grade Cricketer, the speedster opened up on the upcoming five-test series against India.

For the record, India have won four consecutive Border-Gavaskar Trophies, two back-to-back Down Under. The Aussies are desperate to win the series after a decade, and most of the players are in the middle of preparations.

Cummins was asked about Australia’s worst defeat against India, with one of the podcast hosts saying that the thumping in the previous outing tops the list. According to him, India were missing several top players due to injuries and still managed to stun the rivals. The victory in Gabba was memorable for India as it was considered Australia’s fortress before that match.

However, Pat disagreed with the host. “I think the series before the previous one was more disappointing as India completely outplayed us,” he said.

Another podcast host reminded Pat Cummins that there would be no excuse this time. Cummins came up with a hilarious reply: “I would find one. Cameron Green was supposed to open the batting and bowling for us, but he has been ruled out of the series. This would be my excuse,” Pat Cummins said.

The first game of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024 will start on November 22 in Perth.
