If there is faith then God finds a way: CJI

Faith: Pune(e-news). If you have faith in God then He will definitely find a way. CJI Chandrachud said this while addressing the people in his native village Kanhersar in Khed taluka. He said that during the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi case, I sat in front of God and said that now you only give the solution. CJI shared the story related to the historic judgment delivered in 2019. CJI DY Chandrachud has said that if there is faith then God finds a way. I had also prayed to God for the resolution of the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute.

A five-judge bench headed by then CJI Ranjan Gogoi had settled the Ram Mandir-Babri dispute on November 9, 2019. The CJI was part of the same bench. The bench had also ruled that the mosque would be built on an alternative five-acre plot in Ayodhya itself. Justice Ashok Bhushan, Justice S Bobde, then CJI Ranjan Gogoi, Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice S Abdul Nazeer were included in the bench of 5 judges which gave the verdict on Ayodhya Babri dispute.

The case remained before me for 3 months

The bench that gave the verdict had 3 months to decide the case. CJI said, 'Often cases come to us for decisions, but we are not able to reach any conclusion. Something similar happened during the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute in Ayodhya. The case was before me for 3 months. I sat before God and said you have to find a solution. Believe me, if you have faith, God will find a way.

Written decision on 134 year old dispute

A 1045-page verdict was written on the 134-year-old dispute. After hearing the matter for 40 days from August 6 to October 16, the Supreme Court had reserved its decision. The 1045-page verdict read by the Constitution Bench for 45 minutes on Saturday ended the most important and more than a century old dispute in the history of the country. According to this, the Chief Justice said that the demolished structure is the birthplace of Lord Ram and this belief of Hindus is undisputed. The entire disputed land of 2.77 acres in Ayodhya was given for the construction of Ram temple. The court had said that a trust should be formed for the construction of the temple within 3 months and its plan should be prepared. The decision was given to give 5 acres of alternative land to the Muslim side, which is almost double the disputed land.

The judges had decided, this is the court's decision.

The name of the judge who wrote the judgment was not revealed. In an interview in January 2024, CJI Chandrachud had said that the decision on the Ayodhya case was taken unanimously by the judges. He had said – Keeping in mind the long history and diverse aspects of the struggle in Ayodhya, all the judges associated with this case had formed a consensus on the decision. In November 2019, the name of the judge who wrote the verdict in the Ayodhya Ramjanmabhoomi case was not revealed. On this, the CJI said that before the decision, the judges had sat together and decided that this would be the decision of the court and not of any particular judge.
