If there is no fan following then it is nothing… BCCI did injustice to Delhi Capitals!
The full schedule of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 is out. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday (26 March) released the schedule of the remaining 50 matches of the league stage. Earlier the schedule of the first 20 matches was released. After the announcement of the dates of assembly elections to be held in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Assam, the schedule of the entire league stage of the upcoming IPL season was released.
IPL 2026 starts from Saturday (28 March). The league stage will run till May 24. After this the playoff matches will be played. BCCI has not announced the date and venue of the playoff. 12 afternoon matches have been scheduled in the upcoming season. All teams will play at least two afternoon matches.

Played with Delhi Capitals
In the 19th season of IPL, Delhi Capitals (DC), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and last year’s finalist Punjab Kings (PBKS) have to play 3-3 afternoon matches. Of these also, DC will play two matches at home. This season, no team is playing more than one afternoon match on its home ground.
Both the Rajasthan Royals matches have been kept out of the house since the afternoon. Whereas DC has to play one afternoon match at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, while two will be played at their home ground Arun Jaitley Stadium. Generally, IPL franchises which have less fan following are given more afternoon matches. Something similar has happened with DC also.

When is DC’s afternoon match?
IPL 2020 finalists DC were to play an afternoon match in the initial schedule. In the schedule released on Thursday, he was given two more afternoon matches. He has to face Mumbai Indians (April 4) and Punjab Kings (April 25) in the afternoon at home. And on April 18, they will face defending champion Royal Challengers Bangalore in Bengaluru.
