‘If we stand together, marriage will happen…’, Pak University’s Ramzan notice goes viral, people say – golden opportunity for marriage
A strange notice issued by a Pakistani university to students in the month of Ramadan is making waves on social media. In this notice, boys and girls are allegedly strictly prohibited from standing together in the campus and in case of violation, immediate marriage has been said. Students made and shared a funny reel on this notice, which started a round of laughter and sarcasm on the internet. This reel was viewed more than 40 lakh times in a few days and people made funny comments calling it less of a ‘warning’ and more of an ‘opportunity’. However, investigation revealed that this notice is fake and is neither on the official letterhead of Hamdard University, nor is it available on their official website or social media.
Notice of strictness on ‘couples’ in Ramzan
The reel began with a caption: "Our university is so halal that we have received this information."" After this, the alleged notice of Hamdard University was shown on the screen. The notice read: “Dear students, you are informed that during the holy month of Ramzan, standing together in pairs (boy and girl) is strictly prohibited.
It goes on to say: “If any couple is found standing together, their Nikah will be conducted immediately. Students are advised to respect the sanctity of the University and avoid unnecessary proximity. In case of violation, the couple will have to make arrangements for their Walima on their own.”
An atmosphere of laughter and fun on the internet
After the reel went viral, users gave a lot of funny reactions. One user wrote: "Yes, warning you about this opportunity? Another added:"As I said, Ammi, I was just standing there, and they got us admitted to the Nikah.
Was the notice real or fake?
Many social media users asked whether this notice was real or created by AI. However, no such notice was found on the official website and social media pages of Hamdard University. Earlier also the same notice had gone viral in the name of Bahria University of Islamabad, but later it was found that it was also fake and was not issued on the official letterhead of any university.
