A video of IPS officer Sanket Kumar of West Patna, during the furious student protest on Wednesday in Bihar’s capital Patna over NEET paper leak and other serious demands, is going viral like wildfire on the internet media. In this video that has surfaced, he is clearly seen instructing the policemen to act very strictly and aggressively to stop the protesters from moving forward. In the viral video, immediately after his alleged strong statement, the policemen get excited and are seen running towards the protesters.
Tremendous tension increased near barricading, police took charge
AISA and other major student organizations had given a strong call for the Lok Bhavan march against the NEET paper leak and several other demands. As part of this march, a large number of students gathered in Gandhi Maidan area and tried to march towards the Chief Minister’s residence and Assembly. To stop this crowd of students, the police administration had put up strong barricades at many places. As soon as the protesters tried to break the barricades and move ahead, a fierce scuffle started between the police and the students. Within no time the atmosphere there became very tense and heavy police force had to take charge to control the crowd.

Amidst this uproar, this controversial and popular video of IPS Sanket Kumar of West Patna went viral on social media. In the video, he is heard instructing the police personnel not to retreat and to strictly control the protesters. After his strict instructions, some policemen immediately came into action and started moving towards the protesters. However, this viral video has not been independently verified nor has any official statement been issued by the police department on this viral clip.
Clashes broke out at many places amid tear gas, lathi charge and stone pelting.
When the situation started going out of the control of the police, to disperse the crowd the police released tear gas shells and brutally resorted to lathi charge. Direct clashes broke out between police and protesting students at many different places. During this period, there have been reports of some policemen getting injured in the stone pelting incidents, while many protesting students have also been injured. In view of this large-scale demonstration, a large number of additional police forces and paramilitary forces were deployed in the entire area. The police tightened security arrangements on all major roads of the city and completely stopped the protesters from moving forward.
Vigilance increased around Assembly and Chief Minister’s residence
In view of this massive protest, the main gate of Bihar Assembly was completely closed. Apart from this, the security arrangements around the Chief Minister’s residence were also tightened. On one hand, while the proceedings of the monsoon session continued inside the Assembly, on the other hand, the police was busy controlling the protesters on the road outside. Due to this prolonged high-voltage demonstration and police action, there was an atmosphere of heavy tension in many major areas of Patna. The local administration continued to keep a close watch on the situation and additional security forces were deployed at all sensitive places.
