Mumbai Monthly Expenses: The country’s financial capital Mumbai is called the city of opportunities, but the cost of living here is continuously increasing. Meanwhile, a video is becoming increasingly viral on social media, in which IIM graduate Nandini Sethi has shared the complete details of her expenses for one month.

In this video posted on Instagram with the handle @miss_management, he said that his total expenses in a month reached ₹ 1,31,277. In the caption of the video, he wrote, ‘₹1,31,277 spent in one month. What are your monthly expenses?” He also clarified that this amount does not include his investments. After the video surfaced, many people started discussing the rising inflation and cost of living in Mumbai.

IIM graduate tells how expensive it is to live in Mumbai

Nandini gave a detailed account of her expenses in the video. According to him, the monthly rent for the new flat is ₹31,000, while since the flat was unfurnished, he had to spend around ₹25,000 on buying furniture. Apart from this, ₹ 1,514 was spent on deep cleaning of the room and bathroom, ₹ 10,400 was spent on installing AC and ₹ 980 was spent on renting furniture for the drawing room and kitchen.

Repairs to the geyser incurred an additional expense of ₹4,328. Regular monthly expenses included around ₹5,800 on groceries, ₹1,200 on domestic help, ₹400 on cook and around ₹11,250 on office commuting. Apart from this, he shared the information that he spent ₹ 10,545 on weekend outing, ₹ 15,350 on flight and taxi to go home and about ₹ 10,000 on shopping and other needs.

Rent and daily expenses increased rapidly in Mumbai

After the video went viral, people gave different reactions on social media. Many users said that despite having a good job in Mumbai, managing the budget is not easy. One user wrote, “I live in Mulund and my monthly expenses reach around ₹ 1 lakh.” Another jokingly wrote, “Welcome to Mumbai, here we get to learn real finance management.”

Some people also said that many expenses like furniture and AC are one-time expenses, so the total expenditure may be less in the coming months. However, most users believed that rent and daily expenses are rising rapidly in Mumbai, making living in big cities even more challenging.
