IIT Baba flatly rejects claims of leaving Mahakumbh, raises questions on those who analyze mental health
After transitioning from a prestigious engineering career to a spiritual life, Abhay Singh, popularly known as 'IIT Baba', has denied allegations that he was thrown out of 16 Madi Ashram of Juna Akhara during the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. Aerospace engineer-turned-spiritual Swami has refuted claims that he has suddenly left the ashram, accusing the seers there of spreading false rumors about him.
IIT Baba said, “They spread wrong news about me.” “The operators of Madi Ashram had asked me to leave from there in the night itself. Now they think that I have become famous and I can expose something about them, so they are claiming that I have gone for secret meditation. Those people are saying wrong things.”
Parents had gone in search
Reports had revealed that Baba Abhay Singh's parents had gone to Maadi Ashram on the 16th in search of him, but they found out that he had already left there. He has now clarified that he was still present at the Mahakumbh Mela and had not gone to any unknown place. Apart from this, other saints of the ashram told that IIT Baba's constant exposure to the media is affecting his mental condition, due to which he "Inappropriate" Making comments. He also accused him of taking drugs. As a result, Juna Akhara decided that it would be best for him to leave the ashram.
Questioned the authority of the analysts
However, Abhay Singh has denied these claims and has questioned the authority of those who analyze his mental health. He defended his mental health, saying, "Who are these psychologists who know better than me about mental states? They should know more than me to give me a certificate." He also commented on the claims of Juna Akhara chief saint Someshwar Puri, who claimed to be IIT Baba's guru. Abhay Singh denied this and said, "Who said he is my guru? I had already told him that there is no guru-disciple relationship between us. Now that I have become famous, he has made himself my guru." The life story of IIT Baba and his presence at the Mahakumbh has brought him into the national spotlight.
Aerospace Engineering from IIT Bombay
Born in a Jat family in Haryana, Abhay Singh excelled academically and earned a degree in Aerospace Engineering from IIT Bombay. He then earned a master's degree in design and worked for some time in an airplane manufacturing company in Canada. Singh's interest in spirituality deepened during the COVID-19 lockdown in Canada. He decided to return to India, where he pursued an itinerant lifestyle and explored spiritual centers such as Ujjain and Haridwar. Although his family initially supported him, they eventually became concerned about his spiritual inclinations. They questioned his mental health and even contacted the police several times. Singh had broken ties with his family and left home six months ago.
