IIT Bombay Cartridges : Mumbai : A shocking incident has come to light in IIT Bombay (Powai), one of the most prestigious institutes in India. ((Mumbai News) Five live 7.65mm cartridges were recovered from a student’s bag in the hostel campus. The incident has raised serious questions about campus security and student movement. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the Powai Police have registered a case under the Arms Act and arrested Mr. Anand Satishchandra Chaudhary (age 23). (Crime News)

The smell of alcohol and the search revealed the matter

The whole incident started with just a personal argument. According to police sources, a heated argument was going on between two students Suraj Dubey and Aman on the ground floor of IIT Bombay Hostel No. 1 over money transactions. On getting information, the security team reached rooms number 93 and 89 and Suraj Dubey and his friend Apoorva Mishra smelled alcohol. Suspecting violation of campus rules, a thorough search of the rooms revealed five live cartridges marked “KF 7.65” in a black bag in Suraj Dubey’s room. These cartridges cost around Rs 3,500 as per the market price.

Connection with Munger, Bihar

During the investigation, more detailed information began to emerge and several threads emerged. Suraj said that the bag belonged to Apoorva Mishra, while Apoorva said that the cartridges belonged to his friend Sassabtha Chaudhary. A native of Samastipur in Bihar, Samshathib admitted to the police that he had purchased the cartridges from Munger in Bihar. Munger is known for manufacturing illegal arms, leading the police to suspect a large network. It has come to light that the connection of these cartridges from IITs in Bombay to Bihar.

Supply network under investigation

The Powai police are now probing whether Sashisht had supplied the cartridges to anyone earlier and what was his real motive. The police have started checking the mobile records of the accused and formed a special team to trace the main supplier of the cartridges. However, due to this incident, the issue of security in the college and the safety of the students has come to the fore.
