I’ll be the first to congratulate Mikel Arteta if they win Premier League: Fabian Hürzeler

Fabian Hürzeler has moved to clarify his remarks following the heated aftermath of Brighton’s recent clash with Arsenal, stressing that he holds deep respect for Mikel Arteta and the work being done at the North London club.

Speaking after the controversy surrounding his post-match comments, the Brighton manager explained that his remarks were made in an emotional moment and were not intended as criticism of Arteta or the Arsenal coaching staff.

Hürzeler revealed that he even reached out to Arteta directly to clear the air.

“I’ve texted Mikel Arteta because I have huge respect for him. He is one of the top managers in the Premier League,” Hürzeler said.

The Brighton boss emphasized that he admires Arsenal’s playing style and the progress they have made under Arteta. He also insisted that if Arsenal go on to win the league title, they would fully deserve it.

“I’ll be the first one to congratulate Arsenal when they win the Premier League, because if they win it they will definitely deserve it,” Hürzeler added.

The German coach admitted that some aspects of the match situation made him emotional during the press conference, which led to his comments being interpreted differently.
