Illegal gas refilling racket busted in Ahilyanagar; 2.01 crore worth of goods seized
Ahilyanagar News | In a special operation by the Local Crime Branch (LCB) in Ahilyanagar, a huge racket of illegal gas refilling has been unearthed. As much as Rs 2.01 crore worth of goods have been seized in this operation and four accused have been arrested. The operation was carried out in Kamargaon area, where this illegal business was being run taking advantage of the current gas shortage.
Police officials said that the suspected accused were refilling unauthorized gas from a commercial tanker (Ahilyanagar News). Acting on a tip-off, a local crime branch team raided and caught the refilling factory red-handed. This time the police seized three gas tankers and various materials used for refilling.
According to the investigation, the accused started this illegal business by taking advantage of the scarcity of gas supply in the area. Police officials say such acts pose a risk of fire, explosion or other serious accidents.
In this case, currently four accused have been arrested and further investigation is being done to find out how big the racket was, how long it was running and whether the gas was being sold illegally in the local markets. The local crime branch is conducting a deeper investigation into the case and efforts are also underway to get information about other associates of the accused. Ahilyanagar News
