Illegal business starts as soon as evening falls
According to local people, there is relative silence during the day, but as evening approaches, illegal sand-laden tractors and highways become active. First, sand is taken out from the river ghats with tractors and deposited at safe places, after which it is transported on a large scale through highways in the dark of night.
Beneficiaries of government schemes are not getting sand
Illegal business is directly affecting the common people and the beneficiaries of government schemes. Beneficiaries building houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and Abua Awas Yojana are not getting sand available for private construction. Villagers are forced to pay high prices.
Price of sand per tractor: 4 thousand to 4.5 thousand rupees
Price of sand per haiva: 25 thousand to 30 thousand rupees
Due to this, it is becoming difficult for poor and needy people to build houses.
