IMD’s alert issued for rain and snowfall in the next 3 days, rain will increase from Delhi to UP, Bihar
While Delhi is facing severe pollution, dense fog in other North Indian states has increased the problems of the people. On 20 December, the coldest day of the season was recorded, when the maximum temperature settled at 16.9 °C. The weather in Jammu and Kashmir has welcomed its first snowfall, due to which the cold is increasing in Uttar Pradesh. The temperature at many places has dropped to 7 degrees Celsius.
Cold wave alert issued by IMD for 16 states
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has recently issued an alert for dense fog and severe cold wave in 16 states. America’s space agency NASA has confirmed that La Nina is active. This time the cold in North India is expected to be more than normal. The period of Chilla-e-Kalan has started in Jammu and Kashmir, which will continue till January 29, during this period the cold is expected to increase further due to snowfall.
Delhi’s pollution and weather conditions
The level of pollution in Delhi and Noida is very worrying. This morning’s air quality index (AQI) remained above 400. AQI crossed 400 at main places like Anand Vihar, Chandni Chowk, ITO Chowk. The weather conditions are extremely bad, with smog and dense fog engulfing the capital. IMD predicts that the weather in Delhi will remain bad for the next few days and there are chances of severe cold increasing in the coming days.
Welcome snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir
The first snowfall of the season has occurred in Jammu and Kashmir, while Chilla-e-Kalan has also started. Due to this snowfall, the cold is likely to increase further in the plains. Heavy snowfall has blocked the Bandipora-Gurez National Highway, due to which people are facing problems. This change in the weather is warning of melting cold, which is going to affect in the coming days.
Chance of rain and snowfall in next three days
According to IMD, a Western Disturbance is active over Central Iran, due to which there is a possibility of rain and snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh for the next 3 days. Similar seasonal activities can be seen in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand also. The effect of rain and snowfall in these four states can be seen in the form of fog and cold wave in the plains.
