According to sources, in the year 2008, 71 year old Maureen Sideres was treated for colon cancer, which was done through surgery. Although the treatment was successful, recovery after the operation was very difficult. Exactly 14 years later, Sideras, who lives in New York City, USA, was diagnosed with esophageal cancer and this time she was treated under a clinical trial, the method of which was completely different from before. During this period, every three weeks she had to go to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and was given a medicine called ‘Dostarlimab’ for about 45 minutes.
Surprisingly, after only four months of treatment, his tumor completely disappeared and did not require any surgery, chemotherapy or radiation. But after this he had just one side effect, due to which he always remains tired. He says, “It is hard to believe, as if it is science fiction.
But it is absolutely true that Sideras is one of those patients who have benefited from immunotherapy. However, this treatment is now advancing rapidly and can provide patients with tailored treatments, long-term cancer relief, and very few side effects.
