Impact of LPG, Railway Tickets, UPI and SIM binding directly on the pocket –

digital desk- The first date of every month brings some financial change for the common people. March 2026 is also going to be no different. This time many important rules are going to change, from the prices of LPG gas cylinders to railway ticket booking, SIM binding, UPI payment and minimum balance of bank accounts. These changes can have a direct impact on your monthly pocket. Let us know what is going to change from March 1, 2026.

LPG gas cylinder price

LPG cylinder prices are reviewed on the 1st of every month. For the last few months, fluctuations have been seen in the price of 19 kg commercial gas cylinder, whereas the prices of domestic LPG cylinder are currently stable. Last month, oil companies had increased the price of commercial cylinders by about ₹ 49. In such a situation, it is expected that there may be a change in prices in March also, which will affect hotels, restaurants and small businessmen. A major change related to railway ticket booking may come into effect from March 1, 2026. The old UTS app of Indian Railways can be closed and in its place the new RailOne app will be fully active. All facilities related to general ticket, platform ticket and local travel will be available on this new app. Passengers should download the new app in time, so that there is no problem in ticket booking.

New rule of SIM binding

To curb digital fraud, the government is going to implement a new rule of SIM binding from March 1. Under this, messaging apps like WhatsApp, Telegram and Signal will be directly linked to your mobile SIM. If the SIM is removed from the phone then these apps will stop working immediately. Even through Wi-Fi, these apps will not be accessible without SIM. The government believes that this will reduce fake accounts and cyber crimes.

Security will increase in UPI payment

To make the digital payment system more secure, additional security can be implemented on large transactions from March 1. Now merely entering the UPI PIN will not suffice, rather biometric or multi-factor authentication may be necessary for high-value transactions. This will help prevent online fraud, although users will have to go through an additional step during the transaction.

New formula for minimum balance

Big government banks of the country are going to change the minimum balance rules. Earlier, if the balance in the account was reduced on any one day, penalty would be imposed, but now the penalty will be decided on the basis of average monthly balance. This may provide some relief to the customers, because if the balance is reduced on any one day of the month, there will be no immediate charge. On the first of every month, petroleum companies review the prices of CNG, PNG and Air Turbine Fuel (ATF). Changes in their rates are also possible from March 1. The increase in CNG and PNG prices will directly impact the general consumers and the transport sector, while the increase in ATF prices may make air fares costlier.
