In Hindu religion, during Navratri, on the days of Durgashtami and Navami, girls are worshiped considering them to be the form of nine goddesses. The belief is that by treating girls like goddesses and treating them like goddesses, Mother Durga is pleased and blesses her devotees with happiness and prosperity. It is also believed that the Navratri fast of the devotees is completed only after worshiping the nine girls as nine goddesses and feeding them with devotion. Devotees offer Dakshina to Goddess Durga as per their capacity and please Goddess Durga.

  • On Ashtami or Navami tithi, first of all invite girls for feast and worship.
  • After offering flowers to all the girls, apply Akshat, flowers and Kumkum on their heads.
  • While chanting all the nine names of Nav Durga, make the girls sit on the throne for worship and food.
  • Wash the feet of all the girls in a plate with clean water and seek blessings by touching the feet of the girls.
  • Then after meditating on Goddess Bhagwati, feed these goddess like girls as per their wish.
  • After the meal, give dakshina and gifts to the girls as per your capacity, touch their feet again, take blessings and bid them farewell.
