According to experts, Radha Kund which is located near Govardhan Mountain in Mathura district, is associated with the pastimes of Krishna and Radha. This place is considered very sacred from the religious point of view, and it is believed that by taking a bath here, all the sins of the devotees are washed away and they receive special blessings. It is said that childless couples can get special blessings by taking a bath in Radha Kund on the day of Ahoi Ashtami, which gives them the happiness of having a child.

According to legend, King Kansa of Mathura sent the demon Arishtasura here to kill Lord Krishna. The demon disguised himself as a cow and started killing the cows at the cowherd’s house.

Krishna was Triloki. He recognized the demon Arishtasura and killed him. Radha saw that Krishna had killed the cow. Due to this he was accused of the sin of cow slaughter. Radha told Krishna to get freedom from this sin, you will have to go and take bath in all the rivers, only then you will get freedom from this sin.

To get rid of sin, at midnight of Ahoi Ashtami, two separate ponds were created by Lord Krishna and Radha, which are today known as Radhakund and Shyamkund. On this day, Radha had blessed that if any couple takes bath together at midnight on Ahoi Ashtami, they will have a child. It is believed that all the places of pilgrimage reside in this pond.

On this day, fasting women wake up early in the morning and go to Radha Kund for the sake of having children and long life. Remembers Lord Krishna and Mother Radha during bathing.

After this, women perform special puja and pray to Ahoi Mata for the long life, prosperity, and happiness and peace of their children.
