Important information for central employees! Government gave new information on 8th Pay Commission
New Delhi. The Central Government has made its position clear regarding the salary revision of employees working in Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSE). Recently, in a written reply to a question asked in the Lok Sabha, the government said that at present there is no proposal under consideration to form a separate Pay Revision Committee (PRC) for non-executive employees of CPSEs and officers below the board level. This means that there is no plan to create any new pay commission like system for these employees.
Question was raised in Lok Sabha
This issue was raised in the Lok Sabha by MP Laxmikant Pappu Nishad. He asked the government whether a separate committee would be formed for pay revision for CPSE employees effective from 2027, just like the 8th Pay Commission has been formed for central employees.
The MP also said that the system of salary, bonus and allowances is not the same in different CPSEs of the country. This may affect the principle of “equal pay for equal work”. He also wanted to know from the government whether any steps were being taken to make the system more equitable and fair.
what does the government say
In response to this question, Minister of State in the Finance Ministry, Pankaj Chaudhary said that it is natural to have differences in salaries, allowances and incentives in CPSE companies. He said that the main reason for this is the economic condition and performance of individual companies. Some companies earn high profits, while others do not have as strong a financial position. Therefore, the structure of salary and incentives may also differ.
However, the government issues some general guidelines from time to time so that the process remains transparent and expenditure is also controlled. Besides, CPSE companies are also given sufficient autonomy for their functioning.
What is the situation on 8th Pay Commission?
On the other hand, the Central Government has constituted the 8th Pay Commission for central employees and pensioners. This commission was notified in November 2025 and has been given about 18 months to submit its recommendations. The office of the Commission has been established in New Delhi and it is also taking suggestions from various employee organizations, pensioners and experts.
