8th Pay Commission: An important meeting will be held tomorrow for the 8th Pay Commission, a big decision can be taken on fitment factor and DA merger.
Business Desk: 8th Pay Commission: The date of 13th April is going to be very important for the central government employees and pensioners. The drafting committee of the National Council of Joint Consultative Machinery (NC-JCM) is going to hold an important meeting on this day.
It is worth noting that the main agenda of this meeting is to finalize the memorandum, which will be submitted to the 8th Pay Commission. This memorandum will decide the future structure of basic pay, fitment factor and allowances of the employees.
Demand for 3.25 times increase
The first demand of employee organizations is related to the fitment factor. At present, pressure is being created to increase this factor to 3.25 or more. Fitment factor is the formula used to decide the basic pay.
If the government accepts this demand, there will be a significant increase in the minimum wages of the employees, which will bring a major change in the wage structure. This will apply to everyone from lower level employees to top officials.
In this meeting, there is also expected to be a serious discussion on the issue of merging Dearness Allowance (DA) with the basic salary. At present, DA is 58%, and it is expected that this figure will soon reach 60%.
If DA is merged with the basic salary, it will have a direct impact on House Rent Allowance (HRA), Traveling Allowance (TA) and Gratuity. The special thing is that this step will not only increase the current salary, but there will also be a significant increase in the pension received after retirement.
Shiv Gopal Mishra raised 9 more issues
NC-JCM Secretary Shiv Gopal Mishra has written a letter to the Commission requesting to include nine new and important issues in the memorandum. After the last meeting on March 12, these additional issues will now be included in the April 13 meeting, so that a stronger draft can be prepared. The 8th Pay Commission has 18 months to submit its recommendations. It is expected that this memorandum will become the main basis for the final decisions of the Commission.
