Important news for EV drivers! Inauguration of ultra-fast chargers by Volvo and ChargeZone on ‘Ya’ highways in the state

Swedish luxury car manufacturer Volvo Cars India and the country’s leading EV charging network ChargeZone® have launched a 360 kW ultra-fast EV charging station at Food Hills near Igatpuri on the Mumbai-Nashik highway. The station is provided with two dynamic load balancing dispensers with 360 kW star charge power unit.

The station, which is set up on one of the busiest intercity routes in Maharashtra, is considered to be an important milestone in the joint venture of the two companies to build a premium supercharging network. This facility provides a dedicated charging bay for Volvo’s electric vehicles, while other EV users will also experience fast and efficient charging.

A firm step towards sustainable mobility

Speaking at the inauguration, Jyoti Malhotra, Managing Director, Volvo Cars India, said, “This is an important step towards transformation for sustainable mobility. He stated that the aim is to provide consumers with luxury, efficiency and reliable charging infrastructure all in one place.

Kartikeya Hariani, founder and CEO of ChargeZone, said this first co-branded 360 kW ultra-fast station is a significant step towards building a future-proof premium charging network. The company is focused on promoting long-distance travel by building high-speed, technology-based infrastructure.

Further expansion planned till 2026

The two companies had decided to extend high-speed EV charging facilities on major national highways by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in 2025. Accordingly, this station has been started and there are plans to set up some more charging stations in 2026.

Through this collaboration, both companies aim to increase the adoption of luxury and efficient electric vehicles while promoting sustainable mobility across the country.
