HK01 reported that while attending an event on Saturday, Lee shared that Wong’s letters mostly express her thoughts on the books she reads, and he responds with a letter weekly.

The actor mentioned that his close friends have been organizing celebrations for his 74th birthday since early November. However, he felt a deeper chill this year on his birthday due to Wong’s absence, expressing his hope for her health and safety.

“Whenever I think of her, I feel sad and uncomfortable,” he tearfully stated. “She is currently limited in all respects. I’m trying to stay positive, as it’s only a few more months until Wong is released.”

Lee is currently engaged in rehearsals and preparing for a live show scheduled for early 2025. He is also involved in filming several music programs.

He had previously pledged to marry Wong after her release from prison. They met when he was 66 and originally planned to wed by the end of 2023 but delayed their wedding following the death of Wong’s father.

Originally from mainland China, Wong was arrested in February for overstaying her tourist visa in Hong Kong. Her initial trial was on May 28, and she faced accusations of using counterfeit U.S. aviation college graduation certificates to fraudulently apply under Hong Kong’s Mainland Talents and Professionals Scheme.

In June, she received a 25-month prison sentence for five offenses, including the use of forged documents, providing false information to enter Hong Kong, and visa overstay. She pled guilty and accepted her sentence during the proceedings.

Lee’s acting portfolio includes roles in “The Condor Heroes,” “The Smiling, Proud Wanderer,” “Journey to the West,” and “Forensic Heroes.” He has three children from a marriage in the 1970s, all of whom are older than Wong.
