Improvement in healthcare: UP nurses will get advanced training

Lucknow. An important initiative has been taken towards strengthening the health of women in Uttar Pradesh. Now the nurses of the state will also play an active role in the early detection of serious diseases like cervical and breast cancer. For this, newly appointed and working nurses are being given special training and are being deployed in women’s hospitals, so that the disease can be identified in time and the death rate can be reduced.

So far, more than 200 nurses have been trained under this special program in State Health Institute Lucknow, Regional Health Training Institute Jhansi and Varanasi and District Joint Hospital Noida. This training does not limit nurses to just caring for patients, but also introduces them to practical methods of early detection of cancer.

Under this initiative, 12 days of intensive training is being imparted to both contractual and regular nurses. During the training, they are being taught the symptoms of cervical and breast cancer, risk factors, primary detection methods and the process of taking patients to the doctor at the right time. Along with this, newly appointed ANMs are also being given special training for 12 days, so that they can make women in rural and urban areas aware about early detection and prevention of cancer.

Experts believe that breast and cervical cancer are the highest cancer cases among women in India. More than 90 thousand women die every year due to breast cancer and its share in total female cancer cases is about 28 percent. At the same time, about 1.27 lakh new cases of cervical cancer are reported every year and about 80 thousand women die from this disease. These figures point to how important timely testing and awareness is.
