This petition has been addressed directly to Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. The letter appeals not only for Imran Khan’s health facilities but also for providing him adequate legal rights in jail.

According to the report of Hindustan Times, many former veteran captains have signed this petition. These include names like Greg Chappell, Belinda Clark, Michael Atherton, Nasir Hussain, Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Ian Chappell, Allan Border, Michael Brearley, David Gower, Kim Hughes, Clive Lloyd, Steve Waugh and John Wright. The letter said that Imran Khan should be provided necessary medical care and legal facilities while he is in jail.
Did former Pakistani captains also appeal?
The thing to note is that no other former captain of Pakistan has signed this petition. However, last week several former Pakistani cricketers including Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Shahid Afridi had appealed to the authorities through social media to provide proper medical care to Imran Khan.

Recently there was news that Imran Khan has lost 85 percent of the vision in his right eye. His supporters and family claim that the rights to visit him in jail have also been limited. His son Suleman Khan said in December 2025, “He has been kept in a very small cell, which is called ‘death cell’ because this is where people sentenced to death are kept.”

Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi are in jail since August 2023. He has been accused in many cases related to corruption. After a decision in December 2025, he was sentenced to 31 years, under which he is currently serving jail.
