Imtiaz Ali: Famous Bollywood director Imtiaz Ali is known for his unique storytelling and sensitive films. Many times he has made such revelations which force people to think. One such revelation was made by the director recently when he was kidnapped during his college days.

Director Imtiaz Ali told that during his college days, when he was studying in Delhi, due to a minor dispute, he was taken away from the hostel at midnight by gang members.

Controversy started regarding removal of poster
Imtiaz Ali completed his graduation from the prestigious Hindu College of Delhi University in 1993. He told in the interview of Unfiltered with Samdish that during college days, student politics was prevalent and competition between different student organizations was common. One day a political poster was put up on the front wall of his hostel.

Imtiaz felt that putting posters on the main part of the hostel was spoiling the beauty of the building. So he removed the poster and put it on the side wall. However, some people did not like this and this is where the controversy started.

People reached the hostel at midnight and forcibly took them along.
A few days later, at around 2 am, one of his friends warned him that some people were coming to the hostel looking for him. Within a short time, some young men reached there and asked Imtiaz to come with them.

According to the director, he was taken in a cycle rickshaw to an area like a government quarter. A local gang leader was present there, who asked him questions and answers regarding the poster controversy.

Life saved from gang leader’s slap
Imtiaz Ali told that he clearly explained to the gang leader that he had not torn the poster, but had only put it at another place. The gang leader then asked his associate whether the poster had actually been torn.

When the man admitted that the poster had just been removed, the gang leader became furious. He felt that he had been given wrong information. An argument started between the two on this issue and in anger the gang leader slapped his own partner.

Imtiaz told that he got the benefit of this chaos and the matter was calmed down there. In this way they came out of that difficult situation without any loss.
