US revokes over 100,000 visas in 2025: The US has canceled more than 100,000 visas, including nearly 8,000 student visas, citing criminal activity, as part of its major efforts to curb immigration through 2025. “We will continue to expel these criminals to keep America safe,” the State Department said in a social media post on Monday.

“The State Department has now canceled more than 100,000 visas, including approximately 8,000 student visas and 2,500 special visas for people who were encountered by US law enforcement agencies for criminal activities,” the US said in a statement. “This includes visas for thousands of foreign nationals who have been accused or convicted of crimes, including assault, theft and driving under the influence,” he said.
Tommy Pigott, principal deputy spokesperson for the State Department, said that in less than a year, the Trump administration has canceled more than 100,000 visas. According to a Fox News report, the number of visas revoked in 2025 is more than double the 40,000 visas revoked in 2024, the last year of former President Joe Biden’s administration. Most visas were canceled for business and tourist travelers who had overstayed their visas.
