In Ankita murder case, BJP leader demanded from the government, wrote a letter to delete the video.

New Delhi:There has again been a political stir in Uttarakhand regarding the Ankita Bhandari murder case of 2022. BJP’s national general secretary and state in-charge Dushyant Kumar Gautam has demanded the Uttarakhand government to remove some audio-videos circulating on social media. He says that this material is false and malicious, which is part of a conspiracy to tarnish his image.

Gautam’s letter to the government

On Thursday (December 25), Dushyant Gautam wrote a letter to Home Secretary Shailesh Bagoli. In this he requested that instructions should be given to social media platforms and news channels to remove such content and steps should be taken to stop its further spread.

He also gave a list of many platforms and channels where this content is running. Gautam called it a criminal conspiracy and said that some people are spreading hatred by making fake audio.

What is the root of the dispute?

This case started with the viral video of a woman named Urmila Sanawar. Sanawar describes herself as the wife of former Haridwar MLA Suresh Rathore. In his video and alleged audio, it was alleged that a person named ‘Gattu’ was involved in the Ankita murder case. Ankita Bhandari was a receptionist in a resort.

In 2022, resort owner Pulkit Arya and his associates murdered her after she refused their demand for sexual exploitation. Pulkit has been sentenced to life imprisonment in this case.

Opposition and BJP’s stance

Congress has demanded a CBI inquiry into these new allegations and wants monitoring by a sitting or retired Supreme Court judge. On the other hand, BJP described Sanawar as a woman with dubious background. Former MLA Suresh Rathore rejected the video as a fake made by AI.

BJP says that a conspiracy is being hatched by reviving the old closed case. This incident shows how old cases become political weapons. The investigating agencies have already closed the case, but rumors are spreading rapidly on social media.
