In Varanasi, mother sold her daughter in exchange for money and saree, two auto drivers raped her
In Varanasi city of Uttar Pradesh, a 12-year-old girl was allegedly sold by her mother in exchange for Rs 16,000 in cash and 10 sarees. Later an auto driver raped the girl. Police have arrested three accused in this case and sent them to jail.
Varanasi’s Assistant Police Commissioner Sarnath Vidush Saxena said that on May 21, on the information of local people, the girl was found crying and wandering and was presented before the Child Welfare Committee, where the girl narrated her ordeal.

The girl was raped several times
Saxena told that the girl is a resident of Bihar. The girl’s mother had sold her to Laharu Yadav Rakesh, a resident of Chandauli, in the month of January. Rakesh allegedly married the girl in a temple in Chandauli. He told that after this Rakesh raped the girl several times and started making her work as a house maid.

Rape after taking her to the bank of a pond
Police said that later on May 19, the accused left the girl near Banaras Railway Station in Manduwadih and ran away. He told that after this, auto driver Ravi Verma, resident of Jharkhand, took the girl to the bank of a pond in Sarnath on the pretext of meeting her mother, raped her and ran away leaving her.
Saxena said that the police registered a case against the girl’s mother, Laharu Yadav and auto driver Ravi Verma in this case, arrested all three on May 23 and sent them to jail.
