In view of Tamil Nadu elections, NDA announced seat sharing agreement, 27 seats allotted to BJP and 18 seats to PMK.

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Monday agreed on the distribution of seats for the 234-member assembly elections to be held in Tamil Nadu. This agreement was finalized under the leadership of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), the main partner of the alliance.

Who was present in the meeting?

During the agreement, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Union Minister and election in-charge Piyush Goyal was present on behalf of Palaniswami and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who officially gave shape to this agreement. Other prominent leaders of the alliance also participated in this program held at the AIADMK headquarters in Chennai. BJP Tamil Nadu unit president Nainar Nagendran, Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) chief Anbumani Ramadoss and Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) general secretary TTV Dhinakaran were also present on the occasion. This meeting is being considered very important in terms of the election strategy of the alliance.

Under the seat sharing, BJP has been given 27 seats, which is seven seats more than the previous 2021 assembly elections. At the same time, PMK has got the opportunity to contest elections on 18 seats and AMMK on 11 seats. AIADMK, which is leading the alliance, has naturally retained the maximum number of seats, due to which its electoral role will remain central.

It is noteworthy that in the 2021 elections, AIADMK had fielded its candidates on 179 seats, out of which it won 66 seats. Despite this, this time also the party leadership was in favor of contesting elections on maximum seats. The party believes that it has the ability to gain majority in the state on its own. Therefore, he insisted on maintaining his strong position in the distribution of seats.

What is the goal of AIADMK?

According to sources, AIADMK’s aim is to return to power by performing better this time. Under this strategy, the party has tried to maintain itself in a strong position in the electoral contest by giving seats to its allies in a balanced manner. After this alliance agreement, there has been a stir in the electoral politics of Tamil Nadu and the election campaign is likely to intensify further in the coming days.
