Increased vigilance on India-Nepal border, why is there connection with Middle East tension?
Sanjay Singh, Patna: The effect of increasing tension between Iran and Israel is now visible on India’s borders as well. In view of possible security threats, vigilance has been increased on the India-Nepal border. Following inputs from central agencies, high alert has been declared in the border areas and security forces have been instructed to keep an eye on every activity.
The approximately 137 km long India-Nepal border adjacent to East Champaran district of Bihar is considered very sensitive from security point of view. Keeping this in mind, people and vehicles coming and going here are being thoroughly checked. Security agencies believe that taking advantage of the international situation, suspicious elements or foreign nationals may try to enter India through the open border.

Raxaul became a hotspot of infiltration
The arrest of several foreign nationals in Raxaul area last year has made this area more sensitive. In separate cases in the year 2025, Chinese, Iraqi, Bangladeshi, Sudanese and Bolivian nationals were caught trying to enter India illegally. These incidents have made it clear that this area is very important and sensitive in terms of foreign infiltration.
Security officials say that all the agencies are working together and are fully prepared to deal with any situation. At present, every activity on the border is being closely monitored so that there is no lapse in the security of the country.
