New Delhi: India won the three-match series 3-0 by defeating Afghanistan by 9 wickets in the third ODI played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Saturday, June 20, 2026. Team India achieved the target of 219 runs in just 28.4 overs.

Yashasvi, Rohit and the shine of the famous   

The heroes of India’s victory in Chepauk were Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rohit Sharma and Prasidh Krishna. Prasidh Krishna bowled lethally and took 5 wickets for 23 runs and broke the back of Afghanistan. In batting, Yashasvi Jaiswal played an unbeaten inning of 110 runs. This was the second century of his ODI career.

He hit 14 fours and 3 sixes in 86 balls. Whereas Rohit Sharma scored 79 runs on 69 balls. His innings included 9 fours and 3 sixes. Rohit was caught by Mohammad Nabi at the hands of Sediqullah Atal. After this, Yashasvi and Shreyas Iyer did not give any chance to Afghanistan. Shreyas remained unbeaten on 20 runs.

Afghanistan’s innings faltered   

Afghanistan won the toss and chose to bat first but had a bad start. Rahmanullah Gurbaz became the victim of Prasidh Krishna in the second over after scoring 5 runs. Prasidh also sent Rahmat Shah 5 runs, Ibrahim Zadran 11 runs and Darwish Rasooli 11 runs to the pavilion early. The team came under pressure after 4 wickets fell for 36 runs.

Captain Hashmatullah Shahidi and Azmatullah Umarzai took over the innings by adding 105 runs for the fifth wicket. Umarzai scored 50 runs on 56 balls. Prince Yadav broke the partnership by dismissing him. Gurnoor Brar bowled Set Mohammad Nabi 21 runs. Rashid Khan became the victim of Harsh Dubey after scoring 5 runs.

In the end, Shahidi played an unbeaten inning of 102 runs in 131 balls and scored the first century of his ODI career. His innings included 13 fours and 1 six. Afghanistan were all out for 218 runs in 44.2 overs. Harsh Dubey, Gurnoor Brar and Prince Yadav got one wicket each for India.
