IND vs AFG ODI Series: India whitewashes Afghanistan, captain Shubman Gill becomes the Alexander of the series

IND vs AFG ODI Series: Team India has clean swept the three-match ODI series played between India and Afghanistan by winning 3-0. Let us tell you that India defeated Afghanistan by 7 wickets in the first ODI in Dharamshala, by 170 runs in the second ODI in Lucknow and by 9 wickets in Chennai (third ODI). Shubman Gill performed well as captain for the Indian cricket team in this ODI series. Besides, he also made a splash as a batsman and emerged as the Player of the Series.

Shubman Gill became Player of the Series

In the ODI series against Afghanistan, Gill got a chance to bat in two out of three matches. He scored 238 runs in 2 innings of 3 matches with 1 century and 1 half-century and won the Player of the Series award. His bat also hit 33 fours and 4 sixes in this series. Gill will now be seen with his team in the three-match ODI series against England from July 14.

Gill had scored 154 runs in the second ODI

Indian captain Shubhman Gill played a marathon innings at number 3 in the second ODI match played at Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. In this match, he first completed 50 runs in 38 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes. Gill completed his 100 runs and scored a century with the help of 13 fours and 2 sixes in 77 balls. He completed his 150 runs in 108 balls with 21 fours and 2 sixes. In this ODI match, Shubman Gill played an inning of 154 runs in 110 balls with 22 fours and 2 sixes.

Gill scored 84 runs in Dharamshala

In the first match of the series played between India and Afghanistan, Shubman Gill made a splash but missed out on scoring a century. In the first ODI match played against Afghanistan in Dharamshala, Captain Gill completed his fifty in 37 balls. After this Gill played an innings of 84 runs in 66 balls. During this period, 11 fours and 2 sixes came from his bat. He returned to the pavilion unbeaten in this match.

Status of India-Afghanistan third ODI

After winning the toss and coming to bat first, Afghanistan had a very bad start. The team lost four wickets for just 36 runs. Indian fast bowler Prasidh Krishna gave the initial blow and put the Afghan batting under complete pressure. After the initial setbacks, captain Hashmatullah Shahidi and Azmatullah Omarzai took over the team. Both of them made an important partnership of 105 runs for the fifth wicket. Shahidi scored 102 runs in 131 balls, which included 13 fours and a six. This was the first century of his ODI career. Whereas Umarzai played a useful inning of 50 runs. The entire Afghanistan team was reduced to 218 runs in 44.2 overs. Prasidh Krishna took 5 wickets for just 23 runs in 8.2 overs.

Chasing the target of 218 runs, the Indian team started the innings with 5/0 due to getting a penalty of 5 runs. After this, Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal batted brilliantly. Both of them made a brilliant partnership of 170 runs for the first wicket and completely turned the match in favor of India. Rohit Sharma played a quick inning of 79 runs, which included 9 fours and 3 sixes. On the other hand, Yashasvi Jaiswal batted brilliantly and played an unbeaten inning of 110 runs. He hit 13 fours and 2 sixes in his innings. Whereas Shreyas Iyer returned unbeaten after scoring 20 runs.

India scored 224 runs losing one wicket in just 28.4 overs and won the match by 9 wickets. With this spectacular victory, Team India made a clean sweep of the Afghanistan series and won the ODI series 3-0.
