According to reports, Rohit may miss the first test due to personal reasons. Responding to this, Gavaskar said that if the Hitman will not play two-thirds of the matches of the series, then he should be included in the tour as only one player and the vice-captain should be handed over the command of the team.
75-year-old Sunil Gavaskar said, “If we had won the New Zealand series 3-0, the situation would have been different, but since we lost that series 3-0. In such a situation, it is very important to have a captain. To unite the team, it is mandatory to have a captain in the beginning.”

Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, Finch said, “Rohit Sharma is the captain of the Indian team, and if he has to stay at home for some time due to personal reasons, then it is a special moment for him.
