Yashasvi created history
India's young opener Yashasvi, with his inning of 161 runs, became the third Indian batsman to score a century in his first Test on Australian soil. He joins the list of Indian batsmen including Sunil Gavaskar who scored a century in his first Test in Australia. Motaganahalli Jayasimha was the first batsman to do so with an innings of 101 at Brisbane during the 1967–68 tour.

Yashasvi completed his century by hitting a six
Jaiswal completed his century in spectacular fashion by hitting a six off Josh Hazlewood. In the 62nd over of the innings, he played an upper cut and took his number of runs into the third digit. This is Jaiswal's fourth Test century. His first Test century came in his debut match against West Indies. Earlier this year, he scored double centuries in two consecutive Test matches against Ben Stokes-led England.
Yashasvi scored a century after nine months
The left-handed batsman has now crossed the 100-run mark in red-ball cricket after nine months. In the second season, Jaiswal lost his wicket on the ball of Mitchell Marsh. He scored 161 runs in 297 balls with the help of 15 fours and three sixes. He missed by just four runs from breaking David Warner's record of high score as an opener on this ground. Warner had scored 164 runs against Pakistan in Perth last year.
