According to a report in Times of India, “Gill was advised rest for 10-14 days by the medical specialist after his injury. He will not play in the practice match over the weekend and at present his participation in the second Test is doubtful. Let's see how well his injury has healed, how his finger is doing. “Even after the injury heals, he will still need some good practice before playing a Test match.”

Devdutt Padikal got a chance
Devdutt Padikkal was given a chance after Shubman Gill was left out of the Perth Test. However, Padikal had disappointed the fans with his poor performance in the first match. However, Padikal did score some runs in the second innings. Now it is possible that in the absence of Gill, the team may give another chance to Padikal.
