Delhi: Rishabh Pant made a spectacular comeback and scored a century in the first Test against Bangladesh. Pant, who returned to Test cricket after almost two years, scored 39 runs in the first innings and 109 runs in the second innings. This innings is also special because after the road accident on 30 December 2022, no one expected Pant to return soon.

Ashwin said after the match, “Rishabh's form should never be questioned, the way he has made a comeback and proved himself is miraculous. It was probably a blessing from God.”

He further said, “People had faith in him, and I don't think there was any pressure on him. Pant batted well in the first innings as well. The good thing is that he is playing in the same style as he used to play earlier.”

Describing Pant's batting as entertaining, Ashwin said, “The players batting after Pant are not that big legends, so Pant will have to improve further, but he has never lacked confidence.”
