Delhi: Star wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant celebrated his return to Test cricket with a brilliant century. He completed his century on the third day of the Chennai Test against Bangladesh, thereby equalling Mahendra Singh Dhoni's record.

The left-handed batsman scored 109 runs in 128 balls, which included 13 fours and 4 sixes. He was made the victim of Bangladesh's star spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Pant broke Dhawan's record

Former left-handed opener Shikhar Dhawan scored 2315 runs in 58 innings of 34 Test matches between 2013 and 2018 at an average of 40.61, which includes 7 centuries and 5 half-centuries. At the same time, Rishabh Pant started playing Test cricket in 2018 and broke Dhawan's record in the 58th innings of his 34th Test.

So far, Pant has scored 2337 runs, which includes 5 centuries and 11 half-centuries, and his average has been 44.09.

The record for scoring the most runs in Test cricket for India is held by Sachin Tendulkar, who scored 15921 runs in 200 Test matches.
