Ravindra Jadeja close to equalling Kapil Dev-Ravichandran Ashwin's unique record, needs to take just 1 wicket

India vs Bangladesh 2ndTest: Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja will have a chance to make a special record in the second and final Test against Bangladesh to be held at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur from Friday (27 September). While batting in the first innings, he scored 86 runs in 124 balls and took 5 wickets in both the innings.

300 wickets in Tests

As soon as Jadeja takes this 1 wicket, he will complete 300 wickets in Test cricket and will become the seventh Indian player to reach this figure. Till now only Anil Kumble, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kapil Dev, Harbhajan Singh, Ishant Sharma and Zaheer Khan have achieved this feat for India. Jadeja has so far taken 299 wickets in 138 innings of 73 Test matches.

Can be included in Kapil-Ashwin's list

Apart from this, Jadeja will become the third Indian player to achieve the feat of taking 300 wickets and 3000 runs in Tests. Jadeja has so far scored 3122 runs in Tests. So far only Kapil Dev and Ravichandran Ashwin have achieved this feat for India. Kapil has taken 434 wickets in 131 Tests and scored 5348 runs. Ashwin has so far taken 522 wickets and scored 3422 runs.

Chance to beat Jacques Kallis

If Jadeja takes 5 wickets, he will surpass Jacques Kallis to reach the 28th position in the list of players taking 5 wickets in international cricket. Jadeja has taken 573 wickets in 398 innings of 344 matches played in all three formats, while Kallis has 577 wickets in 574 innings of 519 matches.

It is noteworthy that the Indian team has taken a 1-0 lead in the series after defeating Bangladesh by 280 runs in the first Test.
