England announced playing eleven, Jos Buttler will not open
The England cricket team has announced its playing eleven for the first match of the five-match T20 series against India. England white-ball captain Jos Buttler will play as a specialist batsman in the upcoming series and Harry Brook has been named the vice-captain of the national team. The five-match T20 series between England and India will begin on Wednesday, January 22 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
After the opening match in Kolkata, the remaining matches will be played in Chennai, Rajkot, Pune and Mumbai. After the T20 series, England will also play three ODI matches against India. England has announced a very strong team for the first T20. Jamie Smith, Braydon Carse, Saqib Mahmood and Rehan Ahmed have not been included in the team for this match.
England's batting lineup, which includes power hitters like Harry Brook and Ben Duckett, will be crucial to their success. Jofra Archer, who is back in the squad, adds pace to their bowling attack, while Adil Rashid will have a crucial role in the middle overs. Phil Salt will keep wicket and open the batting with Ben Duckett. Butler will bat at number three. At the same time, England's head coach Brendon McCullum has said that all the players will get a chance to play at some point during the series.
England have had a mixed T20 performance, including a drawn series against Australia and a win over the West Indies after their semi-final exit at the 2024 World Cup. In such a situation, it will be interesting to see how much competition this English team can give to India on its own soil.
England's playing eleven for the first match: Phil Salt (wk), Ben Duckett, Jos Buttler (captain), Harry Brook (vice-captain), Liam Livingstone, Jacob Bethell, Jamie Overton, Gus Atkinson, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood.
