ind vs eng playing 11: England announced the team for the third T20 a day before, what will be the change in the Indian playing-11?
Phil Salt and Jos Buttler were out without opening the account. But he will have another chance to impress. The middle order performance of Harry Brook, Jacob Bethel and Tom Banton will give them more confidence.
The bowling unit also did very well as a group. Debutant pacer Josh Tongue (0/46 in four overs) and leg-spinner Adil Rashid (0/21 in two overs) struggled but have also retained their places.
England’s playing 11: Phil Salt, Jos Buttler, Harry Brook (captain), Jacob Bethel, Tom Banton, Sam Curran, Will Jacks, Liam Dawson, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Josh Tongue.
How did England beat India?
India opted to bat first in the second T20 and recovered from a difficult start with contributions from Abhishek Sharma (43), Ishan Kishan (49) and Shreyas Iyer (37). Debutant Vaibhav Suryavanshi gave hope by scoring 14, then Tilak Verma’s unbeaten 24, including 17 in the last over, took India to 190/7.
England had a bad start. Arshdeep Singh dismissed Salt and Butler early. Before Axar Patel was out, Brook’s explosive 39 brought England back into the match. Bethel (76*) and Banton (39) then made an important partnership of 67 runs. Arshdeep briefly raised India’s hopes by dismissing Banton, but Ravi Bishnoi’s costly 17th over, which yielded 29 runs, saw Bethel seal England’s victory.
What changes will India make?
After losing the second T20 to England, India will probably consider several changes for the third match. The biggest change can happen in the bowling attack. Leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi is under pressure after conceding 60 runs in four overs.
Washington Sundar can replace leg spinner Bishnoi. However, off-spinners have been struggling recently, or India may give a chance to Prince Yadav as well. There can be changes in batting also. After the inclusion of Vaibhav Suryavanshi, India’s top order has become largely left-handed, leaving Shreyas Iyer as the only right-hander in the top 7.
To bring back balance, Sanju may return to Samson’s playing 11, perhaps opening the innings with Suryavanshi or replacing either Ishan Kishan or Tilak Verma. All-rounder Suryansh Shedge is another option if India need more flexibility and a more balanced batting lineup.
