IND Vs IRE: Shock to India before Ireland tour, all-rounder including star spinner out; These two players are expected to debut in T20I
IND vs IRE T20I Series: The Indian team has faced a double shock before the start of the upcoming two-match T20 series against Ireland. All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy and star spinner Varun Chakravarthy have been ruled out of the series due to injury. In the absence of both the players, the team management will have to make changes in the combination, while a golden opportunity has also opened up for the young players to step into international cricket.
Under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, the Indian team will play the T20 series against Ireland from June 26. This series is also going to be special for Iyer because he will be commanding Team India in this format for the first time. However, Nitish Reddy’s injury before the start of the tour has affected the team’s plans.
According to reports, an injury has been found in the thigh (quadriceps) of Nitish’s left leg. Medical examination has confirmed muscle swelling and fiber damage. He has then been instructed to report to the BCCI Center of Excellence for further evaluation and treatment. This is the reason why he is out of Ireland tour. The concern about his fitness has also increased because after this India has to play an important white-ball series against England. There is a strong discussion about including Suryansh Shedge in the team in his place.
The second concern for Team India is the absence of Varun Chakravarthy. Varun, who is recovering from the injury suffered during IPL 2026, is currently undergoing rehabilitation process at the Center of Excellence in Bengaluru. BCCI has made it clear that his complete fitness will be given priority and he will not be fielded in a hurry. In place of Chakraborty, the command of full time spin bowling can now be handed over to Ravi Bishnoi.
With the absence of these two players, opportunities have been created for young talent. Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who has recently performed brilliantly in domestic, junior cricket, IPL 2026 and senior cricket A team (IND vs SL vs AFG Trination Series), has been sent with the team on this tour. It is believed that he may get a chance in the opening. Considering his aggressive batting style, the team management may consider including him directly in the playing eleven.
Apart from this, fast bowler Prince Yadav is also considered to be the frontrunner in the race for debut. The selectors have expressed confidence in him on the basis of domestic cricket, IPL and recent performance. If he gets a chance, it will be a big milestone in his career.
The first T20 match between India and Ireland will be played on June 26 at the Stormont Cricket Ground in Belfast, while the second and final match will be played on the same ground on June 28. This small but important series is also being seen as preparation for the England tour.
Now the eyes of cricket fans are fixed on whether Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Prince Yadav get a chance to debut in international cricket. Team India will hope that Nitish Reddy and Varun Chakraborty get fit and return to the field soon, because the challenging series against England is not far away.
