Before the match against Netherlands, there are reports that Team India’s star opener Abhishek Sharma and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah may be dropped from this match. Now the coach of Team India himself has revealed this news.

Team India’s batting coach Sitanshu Kotak told in the press conference an evening before the match against Netherlands that fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will not be rested in the last match of Group A against Netherlands. In the match against Pakistan on Sunday, Bumrah took important wickets of Saim Ayub and captain Salman Ali Aga due to which Pakistan had to face a crushing defeat by 61 runs.

Keeping in mind Bumrah’s injury, he is given rest from time to time. In such a situation, the question that was running in the minds of all the fans was that since Team India has qualified for the Super-8, will Bumrah be rested from this match? In response to which today Sitanshu Kotak said, ‘I don’t think Bumrah will be given rest. Will take a decision on this later.

He gave a positive response about the fitness of Abhishek Sharma. Abhishek could not play against Namibia due to stomach infection and was out for zero against Pakistan. Talking about Abhishek, Kotak said, ‘His health was not well. In the last match he was out in the first over. We don’t want to overanalyze. Now he is fine. He has made his plans.

Bitter memory of Team India related to Ahmedabad

Team India has to play the first match of Super-8 in Ahmedabad. Therefore, Kotak stressed the importance of increasing familiarity with the situation. The Indian team had lost the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup to Australia in Ahmedabad itself. Kotak concluded, “Every game is important, but considering that we have a Super 8 game coming up and the final could be held here, it would be good if we get used to the conditions.”

The Super-8 round will start from Saturday 21st February but Team India will start its journey in this round from Sunday 22nd February. Team India’s schedule in Super-8 is like this-
